UAP CE Research Seminar by Professor Umme Kulsum Navera, BUET


On Thursday, 9 November 2017, the first seminar of "UAP CE SEMINAR SERIES" was held at Department of Civil Engineering, UAP. The seminar titled "Challenges in Water Resources Development in Bangladesh" was given by Dr. Umme Kulsum Navera, Professor of Department of Water Resources Engineering, BUET.

Professor Navera presented the key water challenges in the country including ensuring water quality, providing adequate water for food production, industrial, fisheries and domestic uses, building sustainable structural and non-structural measures for flood management, salinity control, illegal encroachment of our water bodies, coastal zone management, fisheries and also the potential of utilizing the natural resources in unexplored Bay of Bengal. Professor Navera encouraged the future Civil Engineers of UAP and the country to equip themselves with adequate knowledge and understanding about the multifaceted water related problems in the country to develop an economically and ecologically sustainable Bangladesh in the 21st century. A large number of students and faculties attended the seminar.

“UAP CE SEMINAR SERIES” is an open platform for the discussion of academic research that stimulate intellectual thinking among our students. We invite scholars from different disciplines to provide a forum to make students well-informed about numerous research projects that are going on all over the world. The seminars will be held on every second Thursdays from 5:00-6:00 pm at room 614, unless otherwise noted. The next seminar will be held on 23 November 2017.
