The University of Asia Pacific (UAP) takes immense pride in congratulating Ms. Sumiya Akhter Bristy, a talented student of the Department of Business Administration, for securing her position among the Top 5 Winners in the prestigious nationwide Energy Innovation Challenge 2025, organized by PRAAN.
Her groundbreaking project, titled “Green Schoolbag – A New Hope for Rural Students,” introduces a solar-powered schoolbag designed to support rural students who lack access to electricity. With a built-in LED lamp powered by renewable energy, the schoolbag enables students to continue their studies at night, significantly reducing educational inequalities in underserved areas.
Among 194 submitted ideas, Ms. Bristy’s innovation was first shortlisted in the Top 35 during the online presentation round, later advanced to the Top 15 finalists, and ultimately earned her a place among the Top 5 Winners. This recognition comes with fellowship funding and expert mentorship to transform her prototype into a scalable solution that can benefit thousands of students across Bangladesh.
The Green Schoolbag project stands out not only for its creativity and technical feasibility but also for its strong social impact. With future potential to include mobile charging features, cooling fans, and enhanced battery support, this innovation promises to be a sustainable tool for educational empowerment and eco-friendly living.
The UAP community warmly celebrates this remarkable achievement of Ms. Sumiya Akhter Bristy. Her success reflects the talent, innovation, and social responsibility nurtured at UAP.
