UAP Faculty Represents University at UNODC National Workshop on Trafficking in Persons and Migrant Smuggling

Mr. Forhad Hossain, Lecturer at the Department of Law and Human Rights, University of Asia Pacific (UAP), represented the institution at the National Workshop titled “Teaching on Trafficking in Persons and Smuggling of Migrants”, organized by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) on 27 September 2025 at Doreen Hotels & Resorts, Dhaka.

The workshop, convened under UNODC’s Education for Justice (E4J) Initiative, introduced the University Modules on Trafficking in Persons (TIP) and Smuggling of Migrants (SOM). Discussions highlighted innovative pedagogical approaches tailored to the Bangladeshi context, the creation of academic networks, and pathways for integrating these modules into higher education curricula. The event brought together faculty members from renowned public and private universities, creating an engaging platform for sharing knowledge and perspectives on strengthening academic responses to human trafficking and migrant smuggling.

Participation in this workshop reflects UAP’s ongoing commitment to faculty development and to building capacity in areas of global importance such as human rights, migration, and transnational crime. The University authorities continue to encourage and support faculty members in engaging with international initiatives, thereby ensuring that UAP’s academic community remains well-prepared to address contemporary challenges through research, teaching, and collaborative action. This proactive approach underscores UAP’s mission to nurture future leaders equipped with the knowledge and ethical grounding needed to contribute meaningfully to society at both national and global levels.
