UAP CE SEMINAR by Dr. Salim Rashid


A seminar on "Compact Township and Cooperative Developments" was held at the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Asia Pacific on 6th February, 2020 from 5pm-6pm at Room No.-614. Guest speaker, Dr. Salim Rashid, Professor, East West University, Emeritus Professor of Economics, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA, showcased his idea of Compact Township at that seminar.

The seminar started with a welcome speech from lecturer Joya Rani Mallick. Then National Professor Dr. Jamilur Reza Choudhury, honorable Vice Chancellor pointed out the growing number of households and the side effects of this rapid growth rate in his speech. Also, he highly praised the current progress of the departmental activities.

Dr. Farzana Rahman, Professor and Head of the Department of Civil Engineering was also present along with the respected faculty members and the students.

On the seminar, Dr. Salim Rashid presented the model, concept and the necessities of the Compact Township model before the audience. Then he discussed how to implement this idea without any government funding or intervention, just by cooperation among beneficiaries.

The seminar ended with an interactive Q/A session with the audience where the honorable guest speaker answered the queries and discussed some of the aspects of this innovative idea.

The guest speaker was awarded with a crest from honorable Dr. Jamilur Reza Chowdhury as a token of appreciation. Some of the photographs from the seminar are attached hereby.
