UAP CE SEMINAR by Mohammad Jamil Islam


A seminar on Bio-Electrochemical Conversion of Greenhouse Gases: Challenge and Perspective” was held around 5pm at room no. 614 on Wednesday, 18th December, 2019 at the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Asia Pacific (UAP). Lecturer Zarin Tasnim welcomed the participants and introduced the program to all. Mohammad Jamil Islam was the guest speaker. Currently he is pursuing his PhD at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, SD, USA.

At first, Mohammad Jamil Islam briefly introduced the topic and his research project funded by the US government. He indicated the challenge of Bio-electrochemical conversion of green house gases. After that he presented the microbial fuel cell and the limitation of typical electrodes. Then he introduced the design of his experimental setup, experimental method and results elaborately. Finally, he mentioned the broader impacts of this project.

After that, there was a short Q&A session where the speaker invited questions from our students.

After the session, Dr. Farzana Rahman, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Asia Pacific delivered a short speech and presented a crest to Mohammad Jamil Islam as a token of gratitude. Some pictures of the event are attached below.
