239th BELTA Executive Committee Meeting and Iftar Mahfil Held at UAP

The 239th meeting of the Executive Committee of the Bangladesh English Language Teachers Association (BELTA), followed by an Iftar Mahfil, was held at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) on Saturday, 28 February 2026.
BELTA President Professor Ahmed Bashir presided over the meeting, while Joint Secretary Dr. Kh. Atikur Rahman conducted the proceedings. At the outset, the Executive Committee expressed deep appreciation to UAP for hosting the event. In his opening remarks, the President recalled UAP’s longstanding partnership and commitment to BELTA’s development. He particularly acknowledged the role of BELTA Vice President and Head of the Department of English at UAP, Associate Professor Takad Ahmed Chowdhury, in strengthening institutional collaboration between BELTA and the university.

The meeting began with the confirmation of the minutes of the 238th Executive Committee meeting. Members then reviewed matters arising from previous resolutions and discussed progress on several ongoing initiatives.
Updates were shared from the Strategic Planning 2025 subcommittees, reflecting continued implementation of earlier policy directions. The Executive Committee also discussed preparations for the 12th BELTA International Conference 2026, which will be organized in December 2026 in partnership with East West University.

Members reviewed the operational status of the BELTA bank account and discussed plans to ensure smooth financial management. The committee also finalized steps for upcoming professional development activities, including the BELTA Monthly Webinar scheduled for March 28, 2026 and the preparation of a comprehensive BELTA Events Calendar for 2026.
In addition, the Executive Committee selected BELTA representatives for the NATE-Russia Conference 2026 and MELTA Conference 2026. Members also reviewed updates from the BELTA Journal committee regarding publication, progress and future plans.
Among other decisions, the meeting formed a committee to pursue collaboration between BELTA and the Ministry of Education Bangladesh, aiming to strengthen institutional engagement in English language education initiatives.

The meeting was attended by BELTA Immediate Past President Prof. Dr. Rubina Khan; Vice Presidents Mr. Takad Ahmed Chowdhury and Dr. Md. Shaiful Islam; Joint Treasurer Md. Saiful Islam Akon; Organizing Secretary Prof. Dr. Mohammod Moninoor Roshid; Publication Secretary Dr. Prodhan Mahbub Ibna Seraj; and Executive Committee members Prof. Dr. Tazin Aziz Chaudhury, Prof. Dr. Shaila Sultana, Prof. Dr. Md. Zulfeqar Haider, Dr. Akhter Jahan, Golam Kader Zilany, Kanita Ridwana, Kaniz Fatema, and Tashrifa Fairuz.

The formal meeting concluded with a prayer led by Vice President Mr. Takad Ahmed Chowdhury. The prayer emphasized unity, gratitude, and collective commitment to advancing English language education. It also invoked blessings for the holy month of Ramadan and for the continued progress of BELTA and its members.
Following the prayer, members joined the Iftar Mahfil in a spirit of fellowship and shared purpose, marking the occasion as both a productive administrative gathering and a meaningful moment of community bonding.
