UAP BBA Students Gain Real-World Capital Market Insights Through Industrial Visit to Dhaka Stock Exchange

An industrial visit was conducted at the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Tuesday, 19 May 2026, for the final-year BBA students majoring in Finance and Accounting from the Department of Business Administration (DBA), University of Asia Pacific (UAP). The visit aimed to bridge the gap between theoretical academic learning and practical industry exposure by providing students with firsthand experience of the operational activities of the capital market in Bangladesh.

A total of 34 students, accompanied by 4 faculty members, participated in the visit. Upon arrival, the students and faculty members were warmly welcomed by the officials of the Dhaka Stock Exchange.

The training session was conducted by Mr. Syed Al Amin Rahman, DGM & Head of DSE Training Academy (DTA), DSE. During the session, he explained the overall structure and activities of the capital market in Bangladesh, including stock trading procedures, settlement periods, investment mechanisms, classification of listed securities, investor participation, risk management practices, and the role of regulatory authorities in maintaining market stability.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A segment, where students actively engaged with DSE officials through discussions on stock market operations, investment opportunities, financial analysis, and career prospects in the financial sector. The interaction provided valuable practical insights into the country’s capital market and its evolving dynamics

Later, the faculty members held a meeting with the Head of the DSE Training Academy to discuss potential future collaboration opportunities between the University of Asia Pacific and the Dhaka Stock Exchange.

The industrial visit also encouraged students to connect the theoretical concepts learned in courses such as FIN 411 – International Finance, ACN 415/FIN 413 – Financial Statement Analysis & Reporting, and FIN 401 – Corporate Finance with real-world financial market practices.

The visit was guided by the participation and supervision of faculty members Mr. Mohammad Rakiv, Assistant Professor, DBA, UAP; Dr. Nazreen Tabassum Chowdhury, Assistant Professor, DBA, UAP; Mr. Mohammad Aminul Islam, Assistant Professor, DBA, UAP; and Ms. Rubaba Nazneen Noor, Assistant Professor, DBA, UAP.
