Mr. Takad Ahmed Chowdhury, Associate Professor and Head, Department of English, University of Asia Pacific (UAP), and Vice President, Bangladesh English Language Teachers association (BELTA), facilitated the U.S. Embassy–LPC–BELTA Secondary School English Teacher Training 2025 held from October 31 to November 1, 2025, at the Bandarban University, Bandarban.
The training was co-facilitied by Prof. Ahmed Bashir, Professor, Department of English, University of Dhaka, and President, Bangladesh English Language Teachers association (BELTA). It was organized by the Language Proficiency Center (LPC) and the Bangladesh English Language Teachers Association (BELTA), with support from the U.S. Embassy, Dhaka, to advance the professional development of secondary school English teachers in Bangladesh.
The program aimed to enhance pedagogical practices through communicative and learner-centered approaches, integrate technology in English language teaching, and improve assessment literacy. It also addressed teachers’ socio-emotional wellbeing and emphasized collaboration for continuous professional development aligned with national education goals.
English teachers from Bandarban and nearby districts, selected through BELTA and LPC networks, participated in the two-day program. The sessions included lectures, group discussions, micro-teaching, and reflection exercises focusing on classroom innovation and application of current English Language Teaching (ELT) practice and research.
