The Debating and Public Speaking Club (DPSC), under the Directorate of Students’ Welfare (DSW) at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP), has successfully organized its flagship intra-university debate competition titled ‘War of Words 2.0’, bringing together passionate debaters for a dynamic display of logic, rhetoric, and critical thinking.
A total of 12, teams consisting of three members each, participated in the competition, which followed the Asian Parliamentary debate format.
The preliminary rounds and semi-finals were held on 17 April 2026. The competition culminated in a thrilling grand finale on 19 April 2026 in UAP auditorium attended by nearly 200 students. The event was graced by Prof Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan, Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof Dr. Sheikh Anwar Hossain, Treasurer and Acting Director of DSW Mohammad Rakiv, Acting Director of DSW, UAP along with Istiaq Nur Muhit, Advisor, DPSC.
After a series of highly competitive rounds, Team 'Paradox' emerged as the champion from the Law Department consisting of Humayra Adiba Kotha, Soyd al Merazul Islam, Sammo Mondal Katha and Team 'Argument X' emerged as runner-up from the Pharmacy Department consisting of Sadequr Rahman, Dilruba Afifa Anindita, Shuvo Saha Probal.
‘War of Words 2.0’ provided a vibrant platform for students to refine their public speaking skills, engage in meaningful discourse, and experience the spirit of competitive debating. The event reflected the club’s commitment to fostering critical thinking, confidence, and effective communication among students. Overall, the competition concluded successfully, celebrating the power of words and the art of debate.
