Prof. Qumrul Ahsan new Vice Chancellor of the University of Asia Pacific

Prof. Qumrul Ahsan has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of the University of Asia Pacific (UAP). Prof. Ahsan joined the university on Monday, 14th February 2022, after Hon’ble President Abdul Hamid authorized his appointment for next four years.

Before joining UAP, he was the Professor of Mechanical and Production Engineering Department at the Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST).


Previously, Prof. Ahsan held the position of Professor of the University of Teknikal Malaysia (UTeM). He has more than 31 years of experience in university teaching, research in different positions at AUST, UTeM, and BUET.


Prof. Ahsan obtained his Doctor of Philosophy in Metallurgy and Materials from the University of Birmingham, UK; both Master and bachelor in Metallurgical Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET).


Prof. Ahsan is one of the key persons of different committees of Faculty of Manufacturing Engineering (FKP), UTeM for designing and implementing undergraduate/postgraduate academic programs for quality assurance and accreditation. Prof. Ahsan is also the coordinator of steering committee and facilitator from FKP, UTeM for implementing Research and Academic Exchange Program with international Universities.


Prof. Ahsan was a Fulbright New Century Scholar-Research Fellowship, Awarded by J. William Fulbright Foreign, Scholarship Board, USA. He bagged a number of national and international awards in the field of academic and research arena. He is also the active member of different professional bodies in home and abroad.
