The academic delegation, including the Vice Chancellor of the University of Asia Pacific, visited Pakistan from June 16 to 21, 2025, marking a significant step in enhancing bilateral cooperation in higher education, research, and innovation. Organized by OIC-COMSTECH, the program involved universities, government bodies, and industry stakeholders from both countries. The delegation was welcomed by key figures, facilitating discussions on cooperation across OIC member states. A forum at the COMSTECH Secretariat featured discussions on academic excellence, AI research, and internationalization strategies, with contributions from notable academics. The week-long visit also included high-level engagements in Islamabad, Lahore, and Murree, hosted at top-tier Pakistani universities that are members of the COMSTECH Consortium of Excellence (CCoE).
Professor Dr. Qumrul Ahsan, Vice Chancellor of the University of Asia Pacific, actively contributed to strategic dialogues, focusing on academic partnerships and research collaboration. He emphasized the implementation of MoUs for meaningful academic partnerships.
Over 20 MoU agreements between UAP and Pakistani universities and industries were finalized, covering faculty and student exchanges, joint research, PhD tuition waivers, and dual degree programs, aligning with the UN SDGs. COMSTECH also offered 100 fully funded scholarships for Bangladeshi students to study in Pakistan, with the University of Lahore playing a key role in the education sector.
Delegates described the visit as historic and productive, appreciating the hospitality and shared vision. The mission reinforced cultural and educational ties, positioning COMSTECH as a vital platform for cooperation. The visit laid a foundation for sustainable collaboration, aligning with UAP's mission to deliver globally competitive education and research.
