Mr. Takad Ahmed Chowdhury, Head, English, Elected Vice President (1) of BELTA


We are delighted to share that Mr. Takad Ahmed Chowdhury, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of English, University of Asia Pacific (UAP), has been elected Vice President (1) of the Bangladesh English Language Teachers Association (BELTA) for the 2025–2027 term. The election took place during the Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the RC Majumder Auditorium, University of Dhaka, on Friday, July 18, 2025.

BELTA is the leading professional platform for English language teachers in Bangladesh. It is a vibrant, non-profit organization committed to enhancing the quality of English language teaching across the country. BELTA achieves this mission through a wide range of activities, including national and international conferences, teacher development workshops, monthly webinars, and the publication of academic journals and newsletters. The organization fosters professional growth, collaboration, and the integration of innovative research-based teaching practices. The Executive Committee of BELTA comprises 24 members, elected biennially by the organization’s life members.
Mr. Chowdhury brings to this position his over 25 years of experience in university teaching, research, academic administration, and a longstanding commitment to the advancement of English language education. A life member of BELTA since its early days, he has been consistently engaged in its activities and leadership. Most recently, he served on the Executive Committee for the 2023–2025 term, alongside distinguished colleagues from the Department of English at UAP, including Professor Dr. Zakia Ahmad and Associate Professors Dr. Mehnaz Tazeen Choudhury and Dr. Afroza Aziz Suchana.

This prestigious achievement is a moment of pride not only for the Department of English but also for our greater UAP family.
