The Directorate of Students’ Welfare, UAP and Wadhwani Foundation Bangladesh jointly organized an online orientation programme of the 6th batch of “21st Century’s Employability Skills”- a course specially designed for the college/university students and entry-level job holders with the combination of 8 core skills on 9th February, 2023. More than 100 students and recent graduates from different departments of UAP who enrolled in 6th batch, joined the inauguration programme.
Mr. Takad Ahmed Chowdhury, Director, DSW, UAP attended the orientation programme as the Chief Guest. In his welcoming speech, the Director, DSW appreciated Wadhwani Foundation for their wonderful initiatives on soft skills development worldwide and noted that UAP is the 1st university in Bangladesh to launch the course. He encouraged the students to attend all the sessions and acquire the required skill-set for the 21st century job market. He also mentioned the significance of soft skills in both academic life and job life. Students at UAP are privileged to get this world-class skill development course completely free, he noted.
Mr. Mohammad Rakiv, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration and Adviser, Entrepreneurship and Career Development Club, joined the orientation as a special guest. He said that the course outline of this programme is very effective for the students especially for those are involved with club activities. The communication skills, attitude and behaviour, teamwork capability and problem solving skills students should learn from here can be applied in the club activities. He shared how soft skills can play a very effective role for the success of an employee.
The orientation programme conducted by Mr. Estanul Kabir, Country Programme Manager, Bangladesh, Wadhwani Foundation. Among others, the orientation programme was also addressed by Mr. Md. Tarek Khan, Assistant Director, DSW. Mr. Shahriar Islam, Senior Associate, Job Placement, Wadhwani Foundation provided a presentation on different important features of the project. A formal MOU has been signed on 18 November 2019 between UAP and Wadhwani Foundation to improve the soft skill set of UAP students and make them employment-ready for the growing economy of Bangladesh.
