DSW organized a seminar on “Higher studies opportunities in U.S. universities”

On 22 September 2022, the Directorate of Students’ Welfare organized a seminar on “Higher Studies Opportunities in U.S. Universities” in Room No. 303 at UAP main building.

Representatives from three prestigious U.S. universities namely Mr. Matt Hansen Kuder, Associate Director, SEAS Enrollment Management & Student Services, The George Washington University, Mr. Abhyuday Pai, Admissions Ambassador, NYU Tandon School of Engineering and Ms. Ludmi Vinola Herath, Director, International Programs, University of Houston-Victoria (UHV) presented about opportunities for higher study at their universities.

In his brief remarks, Mr. Takad Ahmed Chowdhury, Director, DSW, extended a warm welcome to the visiting team and expressed the hope that the participants would be benefitted from the session facilitated by the EducationUSA and supported by the Embassy of the United States in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He also noted the important role Mr. A. Farjad Ahmed, honorable member of the UAP Board of Trustees (BOT) played in connecting UAP and the US Embassy.

The presenters shared information to prospective masters and PhD students, and provided guidance on how to complete successful applications for higher studies in their universities. The visiting universities mainly focused on applied science, management technology, engineering and computer science. Besides representatives from the three US universities, the visiting delegate also included Regional EducationUSA Advising Coordinator Mr. Lewis Cardenas, Muhammed Sohel Iqbal, EducationUSA Director, US Embassy Dhaka and Mr. Ruhul Amin, EducationUSA Outreach Coordinator, EMK. Later, a Q&A session was held where the students asked various questions to the speakers.

At the end, Ms. Khadija Mohamud, Assistant Cultural Affairs Officer, US Embassy Dhaka handed over souvenirs to Mr. Takad Ahmed Chowdhury and Mr. Md. Tarek Khan, Director and Assistant Director at Directorate of Student’s Welfare, UAP, respectively.
