The University of Asia Pacific (UAP) Drama Club made history on October 14, 2023, by hosting its 1st Inter-Department Drama Competition at the UAP Auditorium. The event drew an enthusiastic crowd, with participants from various university departments eagerly awaiting their turn in the limelight.
The competition's grand opening was graced by the presence of UAP's Vice Chancellor, Pro. Dr. Qumrul Ahsan, who set the stage for a day brimming with extraordinary talent and creativity. Adding glamour to the event was the special guest, renowned Bangladeshi Actress Ms. Naznin Hasan Chumki. A distinguished panel of judges, consisting of Mr. Fahim Maleque Evan from the Department of Theatre & Dramatics at Jahangirnagar University, Mr. Kazi Safikul Islam, a noted Actor & Director, and Mr. Mahmudul Alam Shuvo, a former Adviser of UAP Drama Club, lent their expertise to assess the performances.
The special guest was quoted saying “In drama, we find not just performance but profound self-discovery. It is on this stage that we practice and perfect the art of growth” as she encouraged further participation and involvement on stage.
The drama presentations that graced the stage left the audience captivated. Each act told a unique story, taking the viewers on an emotional rollercoaster with moments of drama, laughter, and heartfelt connection. The audience was treated to one captivating performance after another, each leaving an indelible mark.
The Department of English secured the championship, displaying unparalleled acting skills and a compelling storyline that held the audience captive. The Department of Computer Science Engineering claimed the first runner-up position, their performance resonating deeply with the audience. The Department of Architecture secured the second runner-up spot, their act leaving an enduring impression. The title of Best Performer was awarded to Prasenjit Barna Prince, a student from the Department of Business Administration, whose astounding performance left the audience in awe.
Notable figures, including Dr. A. S. M. Mohsin, the Director of the Directorate of Student Welfare (DSW), were in attendance to witness the event.
This remarkable evening was orchestrated by the dedicated team of the UAP Drama Club's organizing committee, who aimed to recognize and celebrate the outstanding acting talents within the university community under the expert guidance of the club advisor, Tasmiah Aktar.
