Pharma Fest 2022 held

Following a two-year hiatus brought on by the Covid-19 situation, the Pharma Science Club (PSC) of the Department of Pharmacy, University of Asia Pacific (UAP) was pleased to present the Pharma Fest with great pomp and grandeur on October 22, 2022.


With the view of creating a common platform for the exchange of ideas among pharmacy students from different universities and delegates from renowned pharmaceutical companies, the Pharma Fest is considered as one of the major gateways for students to get exposure to the premise outside of UAP.

The day-long program consisted of three main segments: the Inauguration, Stall-Round and Research Poster Presentation, and Pharma Olympiad. Reputable pharmaceutical companies such as Square Pharmaceuticals Limited, Incepta Pharmaceuticals Limited, Popular Pharmaceuticals Limited, Radiant Pharmaceuticals Limited, Beacon Pharmaceuticals Limited, Team Pharmaceuticals Limited, Healthcare Pharmaceuticals Limited, and Synovia Pharma all had eye-catching stalls set up. A lively cultural performance by UAP students marked the festival's conclusion.


Among the guests, it was a privilege for the Pharmacy department to host Prof. Dr. Qumrul Ahsan, Honorable Vice Chancellor, UAP, as the Chair of the program, and Mr. Lokman Hossain Miah, Honorable Executive Chairman (Senior Secretary), Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), Prime Minister's Office, as the Chief Guest of the event. As the special guest of this festive event, Dr. Mohammed Alauddin, Chairperson, Board of Trustees, UAP was present. The Treasurer, Controller of Examinations, Deans of different schools, Heads of the departments, Faculties, as well as guests from various universities and pharmaceutical companies were also present to complete this joyous occasion. The event was opened by a welcome speech from the Head, Department of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shahriar. Among others, Mr. Md. Nasser Shahrear Zahedee, Chairman, Radiant Pharmaceuticals Limited, Mr. Md. Mahbubul Haq, President of the Ex-Pharmacy Students' Association (EPSA), UAP, and Secretary, Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh (PCB), provided his opinions on the jubilant event.


Participants from over 30 public and private universities across Bangladesh had shown their enthusiasm to join this festival by registering for events such as Pharma Olympiad and Research Poster Presentation competition. It was the pleasure of the organizing team to announce the names of the winners of the participants of the Poster Presentation and the Pharma Olympiad competition in a joyous environment at the auditorium of UAP, which was joined by the Pro-Vice Chancellor of UAP, Prof. Dr. Sultan Mahmud. Among the winners were: Poster Presentation 2nd runner-up: jointly Lamia Alam (University of Asia Pacific) & Rosy Fatema (North South University), 1st runner-up: jointly Shahadul Islam and Symon Alam Nahid (Noakhali Science & Technology University) and Champion: Md Jahidul Alam Showrav (Noakhali Science & Technology University). On the other hand, the winners of the Pharma Olympiad were: 2nd runner-up: Team Rupatadine from Jahangirnagar University (Ashik Bhuiyan & Saad Bin Zakir), 1st runner-up: Team Paracetamol from University of Dhaka (Nasiba Binte Bahar & S. M. Rakibul Hossain), and Champion: Team Losartan from Jahangirnagar University (Muztahid Khan & Tasnova Taz Prapti). The winners were handed over their crests and certificates by the Pro-VC, Prof. Dr. Sultan Mahmud; Dean, School of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan; and the Head, Department of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shahriar. Finally, the event was concluded with a vote of thanks from the convener of the Pharma Fest 2022, Mr. A. H. M. Nazmul Hasan, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacy, UAP.
