UAP Pharmacy Department Hosts Seminar on Global Prospects in Pharmacy

semi-001 The Entrepreneurship and Career Development Club (ECDC) of the Department of Pharmacy at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) successfully organized a high-impact seminar titled “Prospects of Pharmacy in Bangladesh and Globe”, drawing enthusiastic participation from both students and faculty members. semi-02 The keynote address was delivered by Professor Dr. Choudhury Mahmood Hasan, a prominent figure in pharmaceutical sciences and Vice President of the Pharmacy Council of Bangladesh (PCB). Renowned for his contributions to pharmaceutical education and research, Professor Hasan captivated the audience with insightful discussions on the evolving role of pharmacists, global healthcare trends, and the vast opportunities available to Bangladeshi pharmacy graduates at home and abroad. The seminar saw the UAP auditorium filled to capacity, reflecting the overwhelming interest in the topic. The event was further graced by the presence of Professor Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiya, Dean of the School of Medicine, and Professor Dr. Mohammad Shahriar, Head of the Department of Pharmacy. Both distinguished guests addressed the audience, highlighting the importance of career planning, innovation, and skill development in the field of pharmacy. semi-0 The seminar was meticulously organized under the leadership of Dr. Fatema-Tuz-Zohora, Assistant Professor and Advisor of ECDC, and Ms. Lamia Alam, Lecturer and Convenor of ECDC. Their dedication, coordination, and leadership were instrumental in making the event a resounding success. Students left the seminar inspired and better informed about the dynamic landscape of pharmacy and the promising future that lies ahead—both within Bangladesh and on the global stage.

Cricket Tournament

Intra-Department (Pharmacy) Cricket Tournament Fall 2024

The UAP Pharmacy Department hosted the "Intra-Departmental Cricket Tournament-Fall 2024" at the BUET Central Field Playground in Dhaka from February 25 to February 26, 2025. The teams from all eight semesters enthusiastically participated in this event. On February 26, 2025, at the final match, Pharma Elites won over Pharma Vanguard. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Pharma Elites put 130 runs on the board by the loss of seven wickets. Pharma Vanguard was all out in 110 runs. Pharma Elites clinched the trophy by 20 runs. Pharma Elites' Md. Asif Mahmud Talukder was named Man of the Match for his outstanding 63 runs in the final match. The tournament's Man of the Series was Pharma Elites' Akash Mollah, who took six wickets and scored an incredible 102 runs. Honorable Head, Department of Pharmacy, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shahriar, watched the final match and handed over the prize to the students. Prof. Dr. Zabun Nahar, Md. Asaduzzaman, Dr. Shihab Uddin Ahmed, and other faculty members were also present. Mr. A. H. M. Nazmul Hasan, and Mr. Muhammad Ashraful Islam were the convener and co-convener of this exciting event.

Pharma Expo 2.0

Pharma Expo 2.0

The Pharma Science Club (PSC), under the Department of Pharmacy at the University of Asia Pacific, proudly hosted the vibrant Pharma Expo 2.0 2025 on April 21. Known for its dynamic presence on campus, PSC continues to inspire through pharmacy quiz competitions, Olympiad, poster exhibitions, and by connecting students with professionals from the pharmaceutical industry. The grand event was inaugurated by Professor Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan, Advisor to the Vice Chancellor & Dean, School of Medicine, along with Professor Dr. Mohammad Shahriar, Head of the Department of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Swarnali Islam Khandaker, Controller of Examinations, and other esteemed faculty members. The day-long celebration included: Pharma Run: A morning health awareness marathon from the university campus to Panthapath Signal, held under the powerful slogan "Run for Fitness, Run for Humanity", raising voices against the genocide in Palestine and promoting a healthier future for all. Poster Exhibition: Students showcased groundbreaking pharmaceutical research. From over 14 posters, the top three were awarded for their creativity and relevance. Pharma Olympiad: 29 teams competed through intense rounds, with five teams making it to the finals in the university auditorium. Online Quiz Competition: Held earlier to build excitement for the main event. The event concluded with an inspiring Closing Ceremony, where Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Qumrul Ahsan attended as the Chief Guest, and Professor Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan, Dean of the School of Medicine, was present as the Special Guest. They handed over crests and certificates to the winners and shared powerful words of encouragement with the participants. A heartfelt appreciation goes out to Dr. Shihab Uddin Ahmad, convener of the Pharma Science Club and Assistant Professor, along with co-conveners Samiha Mehnaz, Adeeba Jaheen Faruqui, Jannatul Naim, and Fariha Akter, whose dedication made the event possible. Special thanks to all the enthusiastic club volunteers, whose tireless efforts behind the scenes brought this remarkable event to life. Their commitment, teamwork, and passion were the true driving force of Pharma Expo 2.0. Pharma Expo 2.0 2025 was more than just an event—it was a celebration of knowledge, unity, and the essential contributions of pharmacists to society.

The Pharmacy Cultural Club (PCC) successfully organized the much-awaited Pharma Festive Night 2.0 on 22nd April, bringing together students, faculty, and staff for an unforgettable evening of entertainment and celebration. Following the success of its first edition, this second installment lived up to its name, showcasing the vibrant and creative spirit of the pharmacy department. The event featured an exciting lineup of performances and activities, including energetic dance numbers, soulful singing performances, and a specially curated segment on Pharma News, keeping everyone entertained. A highlight of the night was the drama performance, which captivated the audience with its engaging storyline. Adding a delightful twist to the evening, faculty members participated in some fun-filled games, sparking laughter and cheers from the crowd. The event not only served as a platform for students to express their talents but also fostered a sense of unity and celebration among the entire department. Pharma Festive Night 2.0 was a grand success, filled with joy, creativity, and connection. Kudos to the Pharmacy Cultural Club for their hard work and dedication in making the night a memorable one for all.

Workshop on CV Writing and Interview Success

A workshop was arranged for the final semester’s student for their development on CV writing and interview skills on 28th of April. The workshop was organized by Fatema-Tuz-Zohora, Assistant Professor, Lamia Alam, Lecturer, Department of Pharmacy The workshop was conducted by MR. Md.     Photophilic Organizes a Photo Walk to Ramna Park and Shahbagh Flower Market

    Photophilic -the Photography Club of the Department of Pharmacy, University of Asia Pacific, organized a photo walk on Saturday, 4th May 2025, to explore the natural beauty of Ramna Park and the colorful charm of the Shahbagh Flower Market. The photo walk started from the UAP campus at 6:30 am with students of the Pharmacy department. The club convenor, Professor Dr. Zabun Nahar, and co-convenor, Mr. Faisal Abdullah Emon, Lecturer, also joined the photo walk. The event was arranged to engage students with their surroundings through the lens and develop their visual storytelling skills. After reaching the entrance of Ramna Park early in the morning, club members captured serene scenes of trees, lakes, joggers, and various species of birds and flowers, highlighting the nature. Then, the club members proceeded to the nearby Shahbagh Flower Market, which offered a contrasting visual experience. Bursting with color, texture, and activity, the market allowed club members to experiment with street and macro photography. The walk concluded at 11:00 am with an informal discussion session where members shared their feelings and experiences. This enjoyable photo walk was an important step toward fostering creativity among the club members.

    Seminar on “Mastering the Art of PowerPoint Presentation” Organized by the Department of Pharmacy

    On May 5, 2025, the Department of Pharmacy at the University of Asia Pacific hosted an insightful seminar titled “Mastering the Art of PowerPoint Presentation.” This event aimed to equip participants with essential skills for creating impactful and professional presentation. We were honored to have Prof. Dr. Mohammed Shahriar, Head, Department of Pharmacy, University of Asia Pacific as the keynote speaker. With his wealth of experience in academia and research, Prof. Dr. Shahriar delivered an engaging session on effective presentation techniques, design principles, and strategies to communicate complex ideas clearly and persuasively. The seminar was graced by Prof. Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan, Dean, School of Pharmacy whose support and insights added great value to the event. Beloved students and faculties from the Department of Pharmacy were also present, showing great enthusiasm throughout the event. The program was organized by Ms. Ramisa Anjum, Assistant Professor, Ms. Fahmida Tasnim Richi, Lecturer and Mr. Ahmad Niaz Rahman, Lecturer, Department of Pharmacy whose professionalism ensured the smooth flow of the event. Prof. Shahriar’s presentation emphasized the importance of visual storytelling and audience engagement, providing practical tips to elevate presentation skills. A lively Q&A session allowed attendees to delve deeper into the topic and share their experiences. The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging the contributions of the keynote speaker, the distinguished attendees, and the organizing committee. The enthusiastic involvement of students and faculty made this event a resounding success, marking another milestone in the Department of Pharmacy’s commitment to academic excellence and professional development.

    Public Speaking

    Mind over mic- the psychology behind public speaking

    A helpful and engaging workshop on “The Psychology Behind Public Speaking” was held 6th May 2025. It was conducted by Faysal Ahmed Rafi, the Chief Psychologist of Mindwizz. Both students and teachers joined the session and found it interesting and useful. Mr. Rafi talked about why many people feel nervous or scared while speaking in front of others. He explained the mental reasons behind this fear and shared easy ways to overcome it. He also gave tips on how to become more confident and how to connect better with the audience. During the workshop, participants took part in some breathing and meditation exercises that can help calm the mind and reduce stress before speaking. These simple techniques were especially appreciated. At the end of the event, Dr. Mohammad Shahriar, the Head of the Department, thanked Mr. Rafi for the wonderful session. A crest was also presented to him as a token of appreciation. Overall, the workshop helped everyone understand the fears of public speaking and how to deal with them better. It motivated many to speak with more confidence in the future.

    Winter Clothes Drive

    PHARMACY SOCIAL AWARENESS CLUB DISTRIBUTES WINTER CLOTHES

    The “Winter Clothes Distribution-2024” program was successfully organized by the Pharmacy Social Awareness Club of the Department of Pharmacy, University of Asia Pacific, on January 28, 2024. Significant number of blankets were distributed to the needy and underprivileged people at the Munshiganj Sadar Upazila in the presence of official personnel. The donation program was supervised by Professor Dr. Irin Dewan, Head of the Department of Pharmacy, University of Asia Pacific. The advisor of the Social Awareness Club, Mahjabeen Gazi, Assistant Professor and convenor of the Pharmacy Social Awareness Club, Sauda Sumaya Dina, lecturer, arranged the program. Respected faculty members, along with the students, enthusiastically participated in the distribution program.

    The Pharmacy Social Awareness Club, Department of Pharmacy, University of Asia Pacific, in collaboration with Quantum Foundation, successfully organized a blood donation program on February 26, 2025. The event was held from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM with enthusiastic participation from students across all faculties. The inauguration ceremony took place at 10:30 AM, graced by Prof. Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed Bhuiyan, Dean, School of Medicine, Department of Pharmacy, University of Asia Pacific. He delivered an insightful speech emphasizing the importance of blood donation and how digitalization can enhance the management and accessibility of donor information. His words inspired students and faculty members to contribute to the noble cause. Professor Dr. Mohammad Shahriar, Head, Department of Pharmacy, UAP, also attended the inauguration program and expressed his support for the initiative. His encouragement motivated the students to actively participate in the program. Under the guidance of Mahjabeen Gazi, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacy, and Convener of the Pharmacy Social Awareness Club, along with Sauda Sumaya Dina, Lecturer, and Co-Convener, the event was meticulously planned and executed. Their efforts ensured smooth coordination and efficient donor registration. The program witnessed an overwhelming response, with students from various faculties stepping forward to donate blood. The Quantum Foundation played a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the donors by conducting thorough health screenings and following proper medical protocols. The event not only contributed to saving lives but also raised awareness about the significance of regular blood donation. The Pharmacy Social Awareness Club extends its heartfelt gratitude to all the donors, faculty members, and organizers who made the program a resounding success. The University of Asia Pacific remains committed to such humanitarian initiatives and looks forward to organizing similar events in the future.
